Who runs PlaceMate
PlaceMate is operated by Nicola Nightingale and Ellis Taylor. For any privacy question, or to exercise your data rights, contact us at hello@placemate.uk.
Who this covers
This policy explains how the PlaceMate website at placemate.uk handles information. The PlaceMate app at app.placemate.uk has its own handling for the data you choose to enter; see below.
Analytics: no cookies, no banner
We use privacy-first, cookieless analytics (Plausible) to understand which pages are useful. It does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personal data, so this website shows no cookie-consent banner. We only see aggregated figures such as page views and referrers.
Information you send us
If you email us (for example at hello@placemate.uk) we receive your message and email address so we can reply. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
The PlaceMate app
In the app, data you enter (such as your hours, proficiencies and reflections) is stored to power the app. In demo mode it stays on your device; with an account it is stored privately to you (hosted on Amazon Web Services in the UK/EU). PlaceMate is designed to hold no patient-identifiable information. Please keep patient details out of your notes and reflections.
Error monitoring
So we can find and fix problems, the app uses Sentry, an error-monitoring service, in its European (EU) region. When something goes wrong, Sentry receives a crash report that includes your account email and display name when you’re signed in (so we can follow up). Only when an error occurs, it may also capture a short session replay with all text and inputs masked, so the words in your notes are never readable. If you send feedback from within the app, your message (and any screenshot you choose to attach) is sent to Sentry too; please don’t include patient-identifiable information in either.
Your rights & contact
Under UK GDPR you have rights over your personal data, including access and erasure. Email hello@placemate.uk and we’ll action an erasure request within 30 days. Backups kept for disaster recovery roll off automatically within about 35 days, after which no copy of your data remains.
